Created for those who still want to enjoy shirts and blouses in the colder months, this poncho cape is made with layering in mind. The softly rounded hem and slightly shorter length make it easy to wear over different outfits, opening up more styling options from early autumn through winter.
Shorter length that works under outerwear
Many ponchos have long sleeves or deep hems that make it difficult to wear a coat on top. This design solves that. The sleeves are cut to around elbow length, and the hem is shaped so that the layers underneath show naturally. It pairs beautifully with a shirt in autumn, with a turtleneck in winter, and can even be worn under a coat on very cold days.
Crafted by a trusted Japanese knit maker
The curved silhouette is surprisingly difficult to achieve in knitwear. After many rounds of adjustment, it was realised together with Saifuku, a long-established knit manufacturer in Niigata and the maker behind the āminoā poncho brand. Light, warm, and easy to move in, the cape is perfect both for going out and for wearing at home while doing daily tasks.
Soft wool in a refined herringbone pattern
The fabric features a herringbone motif (āsugi-ayaā in Japanese), created using jacquard knitting. The pattern is inspired by the branching shape of cedar trees and is known as āherringboneā in English. The cape is made from extra fine lambswool, shorn from lambs less than six months old. This wool is exceptionally soft, warm, and airy, spun by one of Japanās few remaining mills capable of producing yarn with a hand-spun feel.
Lightweight warmth without bulk
Warm yet feather-light, the cape adds cosy comfort without the heaviness of a thick sweater or the slipping of a shawl. It folds neatly into a bag, doesnāt wrinkle easily, and brings a quiet elegance to everyday looks.
