Tokoname ware guardian cat | Small

690 kr

A beckoning cat, shown only in part,
as if quietly peeking out from behind.

This form recalls the well-known “Tokonyan” in Tokoname,
a large cat that watches over the town,
with only its head and raised paw emerging into view.

In Japanese culture, the raised paw carries meaning.
The right is said to invite good fortune,
while the left calls in people and connection.

Cats from Tokoname are known for their large, expressive eyes
and softly rounded form,
a shape that has gently evolved over time.

A familiar symbol,
reduced to its most essential presence.
