Odawara Cast Brass Wind Chime | Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten
A clear, dignified tone that invites a sense of cool.
Unlike glass wind chimes, this one is cast in brass using traditional methods from Odawara — producing a light yet resonant sound with a lingering finish. The chime is paired with a linen strip, a material symbolic of Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten, giving the piece a breezy, refined look.
Crafted by the last remaining foundry in Odawara
Odawara casting has its roots in the Hojo period and is known for producing high-quality bells and chimes. Today, only one workshop remains: Kashiwagi Art Foundry. Each wind chime is made by hand using time-honoured casting techniques, preserving the quiet dignity of this traditional craft.
Available in two shapes
• Tsurigane (temple bell) with Light Blue linen strip — inspired by the bonshō bell found in temples.
• Fūtaku (wind bell) with Light Green linen strip— modelled after bells traditionally hung on the corners of temple roofs.
Finished in a deep, smoky tone
Although brass is known for its bright golden shine, this wind chime is given a subdued, aged finish through a traditional oxidising process. The result is a piece that blends effortlessly into both traditional homes and modern interiors.
A thoughtful seasonal gift — or a timeless accent for your own space.
