Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten's Hanafukin revives Nara’s traditional mosquito net fabric (kayakiji) as a beautiful and practical kitchen towel. This airy, loosely woven material is known for its excellent breathability, absorbency, and quick drying—qualities that make it ideal for daily use.
Large, light, and quick-drying
At 58 × 58 cm, it’s about four times the size of a standard kitchen towel, yet it feels lighter thanks to its thin double-layer construction. Fold it for wiping, unfold it to dry—it stays clean and dries fast, even in humid seasons.
Softens with each wash
Woven on a traditional shuttle loom and hand-sewn for durability, the towel develops a soft, fluffy texture with use. The more you wash it, the gentler it feels in your hands.

Care instructions
・Rinse in warm water before first use to remove starch.
・Hand wash with neutral kitchen detergent, or use a laundry net and non-fluorescent detergent for machine wash.
・Avoid using fabric softener, as it reduces absorbency.
・Boil in salted water with a little vinegar for 5 minutes to disinfect if needed.
・Some shrinkage and fraying may occur due to the natural material.
・Coloured cloths: use oxygen bleach only.
