Hand-painted Arita-yaki Mamezara | NAKAGAWA MASASHICHI SHOTEN
Arita-yaki Mamezara – Hand-painted Blue & White Porcelain
These small Arita-yaki plates, with their charming compact form, are inspired by teshio-zara—traditional condiment dishes once widely used in Arita. Produced in collaboration with Kajiken Seijisha, a historic kiln with over 250 years of ceramic heritage, each piece is carefully hand-painted in classic cobalt blue on pristine white porcelain.
Featuring auspicious Japanese motifs such as cranes, deer, and pine, each design is drawn by hand, showcasing the delicate brushwork and subtle tonal variations unique to artisan craftsmanship. The refined yet playful designs make these mamezara ideal for both everyday use and special occasions.
The warm, simple illustrations paired with the smooth white porcelain lend a gentle charm to the table—perfect for serving soy sauce, pickles, or small sweets.
