In 1982, Crinkle Super Bag was chosen as MoMA Permanent Collection. Ceramic Japan is also the manufacturer of the ceramics that are designed by Mr. Sori Yanagi.
Designer: Makoto Komatsu
Makoto Komatsu was born in Tokyo and studied under Stig Lindberg at the Swedish Gustavsberg company.
His design work spans a wide range, including ceramics, glass, stainless steel tableware, lighting, and furniture.
The Crinkle Series was selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, and the products are still sold worldwide at MoMA shops.
His works are also part of the collections of many museums around the world, including the FAENZA Ceramic Museumin Italy and the Victoria & Albert Museum in the UK.
His collaboration with Ceramic Japan on the “POTS” project won the Grand Prix in the design category at the 1st International Ceramic Festival ’86 Mino.
