2027 CALENDAR TOMORROWS | D-BROS
More than a way of counting days, TOMORROWS is a graphic exploration of how one day becomes the next.
Created by Japanese design brand D-BROS, known for transforming ideas from graphic design into objects for everyday life, TOMORROWS is now in its fourth edition. The 2027 calendar is designed by Ryosuke Uehara of KIGI around the theme “Utsuroi” — a Japanese word for gradual change, transition and the passing of time.
Look closely at the dates and their colours overlap. The idea is that there is no distinct boundary between today and tomorrow: time gradually shifts, with one day continuing into the next.
The photographs are also part of this idea. Uehara selected them from images he had taken and collected in his everyday life. Rather than showing easily recognisable scenes, he chose photographs that leave space for the viewer’s own imagination.
The construction is beautifully reduced: six double-sided calendar sheets simply hang over a slender stainless-steel rod. There is no conventional binding or frame. A cotton cord is tied to either end of the rod and can be adjusted depending on where and how the calendar is displayed.
A small message tag can also be attached to the rod:
“year 2027. a blessing of 365 unfoldings tomorrows.”
A wish for 365 tomorrows filled with blessings.
