2027 Calendar Typeface「 Souvenir Bold」| D-BROS

A calendar where the typeface itself is the design.

Each year, D-BROS selects a typeface and builds an entire calendar around the character of its letters and numbers. For 2027, the chosen typeface is Souvenir Bold — rounded, friendly and quite unlike the sharper modernist typefaces we often see in graphic design.

Souvenir was created in 1914 by American type designer Morris Fuller Benton, one of the most prolific type designers of the 20th century. Benton was interested in legibility and in creating typefaces that could work for widespread everyday use. Souvenir stands apart from much of his work: its strokes have relatively little contrast and almost every line carries a gentle curve, giving the letters their distinctive soft appearance.

Even its name feels appropriate. “Souvenir” means something kept as a reminder, and the typeface has an unusually warm, approachable personality.

D-BROS turns those characteristics into the visual language of the calendar, allowing a piece of type design created more than a century ago to accompany another year.

Available in two formats: a large A3 wall calendar, or a compact desk version with six double-sided cards held in a stainless-steel stand.
